Many couples wonder if choosing genders of children is possible. This is a common issue when families comprise of just boys or girls, where some believe that a "balance" of children would complete their families.

There are certainly many hints and tips on the internet and in my opinion you should stay away from those which are based on hearsay or old wives tales and concentrate on those which have a basis in scientific fact.

Male and female sperm are actually very different-they behave differently, have different "shelf lives" and are not the same size. We can exploit these variances to our advantage.

If you would like to have a girl baby, choosing gender naturally is based around the fact that female sperm is larger and slower moving than male sperm. It lives for considerably longer and is generally more robust. In addition, female sperm prefers an acidic environment. Therefore, if you have intercourse a couple of days before ovulation, the male sperm are likely to have died before the egg is released, leaving the longer lasting females ready and waiting for the egg. You can also boost the body's acidity by eating acid forming foods such as dairy produce, broccoli and fish.

To have a boy baby, choosing gender naturally means that you need to have intercourse as close to ovulation as possible. Once the egg is released, it is almost as simple as a "race" to the egg-and this is one which male sperm should win. Alkaline forming foods which should be eaten include bananas, red meat, apricots, sweetcorn and sausages.

If you would like to see tried-and-tested, all-encompassing methods which will help you to influence gender, there is an excellent guide which is based on scientific rather than anecdotal principles. It includes all the information you need to successfully choose your baby's gender and has been proven to be 95% accurate.
